It's lovely to meet you.
"Hey, Dog-meat!" A throng of popular misfits would yell in droves, as they wielded rubber four-square balls mercilessly in my direction. Needles to say, recess was not my favorite.
One day walking home from middle school, a Scandinavian friend told me that "Dag-ne" in old Norse actually meant "New Day" or dawn. At the time, despite my social awkwardness and lack of esteem, I distinctly remember feeling empowered. I began to appreciate my name and slowly take pride in my cultural background and familial history. I was, after all, a descendant of immigrants, sailors, and storytellers. It's likely you are too!
Now, many years later, as a passionate international English and social science educator, mother, forensics-speaking coach, and defender of student advocacy, I strive to embody and model the qualities of an empathetic, humble yet resilient global citizen. My fervent goals, inspired by years of teaching, writing, mentoring, tutoring, and coaching, are to empower youth and curate an inclusive and collaborative publishing platform for young people around the world.
My Dream
To give ALL KIDS a voice and opportunity to be heard, seen, and truly valued. And, in the spirit of new possibilities, hope, and dare I say even redemption, it begins with a name in translation: "New Day" Storytelling Advocates.

New Day Storytelling Advocates is committed to fostering a spirit of socially and environmentally conscious artistic endeavors and to invite youth from every nation, background, and ability to engage in thoughtful discourse about our world! We desire for youth to connect, build relationships, and create together.
So, whether you enjoy oral, visual, written, digital, or artistic storytelling, our hope is that
through the medium of stories, you can find an authentic community of aesthetes
who are passionate about advocating for our planet and its beautiful people.
No experience is required and you can check your prerequisites, test scores, and GPA at the door!

We believe in modeling servant leadership every day, in the big and little decisions, and working tirelessly with our local and international community to ensure we can offer creative opportunities to young people around the world. We believe that every child is unique, sacred, and deserving of respect, dignity, and educational opportunities that foster self-efficacy, skills, talents, and personal passions. We desire to demonstrate a fierce love for kids and their creative capacities in all that we do and in our pursuit of their advocacy journey.
